As we wait patiently for the upcoming Digicel Drag Wars 2, the Grenada Motor Club held a small meeting to familiarize potential participants with what to expect for the event in terms of cost, rules, and regulations.

The drags is scheduled for June 5 - 7, 2009. Cars from various locations are already on their way, with cars expected to come from: Trinidad & Tobago, Antigua, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent. The cars from Trinidad and Antigua have agreed to stay for 3 months during the summer and leave in September. This will allow the GMC to host back to back events, 1 in each month over the season: June 5 - 7, July 24 - 26 (tentative), and August 28 - 30. The GMC is attempting to import cars from Puerto Rico and Dominica for the second and third event, once there is a viable freight solution to accomodate them.

The three events will be based on a cumulative points system where drivers will be awarded points for races won, and drivers with the most cumulative points in their bracket at the end of the third event will be awarded cash prizes (14 second bracket and under). Qualifying times out of 3 runs must be made in order to run a bracket. Elimination will be based on 2-loss knockout. Timeslips will be provided to drivers during the Test & Tune stage.

Parade of the cars to Pearls Airstrip:

June 6th, 11 a.m. from Bananas Car Park to Pearls

Test & Tune / Night Drags: $30 per person + $20 for pit-pass

June 6th, 2 p.m., Pearls

Main Event Sunday: $30 per person + $20 for pit-pass

June 7th, 2 p.m., Pearls

Weekend Pass: $80

This cover: Car Show, After party @ Bananas, Test & Tune, Main Event

Children under 12 years: Free

Drivers Registration: $300 w/ tent/booth, $200 without.

This provides 4 passes: 1 driver, 3 pit-crew. These passes cover the whole weekend.
