Still don't see from your story where they benefited from realtime tuning. Did he make changes while in 4th gear to correct the problem? or did the car fly by the cell too quickly to even notice the problem, and he still had to go through the logs to highlight the problematic cell?

One of the few times realtime tuning is a major advantage is when using a steady state dyno when you can get the car to Maintain a steady state, so you can get it to hit a specific cell while you make changes in REAL time and see the changes on the dyno. otherwise your aren't missing on much without it. I lose on average 10 seconds when i flash vs when i do realtime tuning on an E-manage. Overtime the 10s could add up...but does it matter to me? No. Its still make changes...log...pull over, review the logs, make changes, run again.

how hard will it be to create a new thread and dump the flashing vs standalone discussion there in order to clear up scientist's build..this is a really interesting discussion that deserves its own thread

Flashing is pretty thorough with regards to fuel/timing control. The only drawback to me is the lack of live-tuning, and the eventual brick wall with the restriction of the MAF (which is good to 700awhp anyway). The newer ECU's can be converted to run speed density and eliminate the MAF, but the process looks tricky.

As far as live-tuning goes, ECUFlash is always being updated and will soon support live-tuning as well as datalogging, so it only gets better.

Hey man there is current an app for live mapping available. Looking to test it soon as well as Speed density. And also looking to update my ROM to v7.0 to get a few more feature. As always you have to do lots of research before that can be done. lol. How yours going man? Hear nah can you send me a PM with one of your latest logfile as well as the ROM you currently run just for comparison and i will shoot you mine. Let me know what you think man.

Yeah that's the beauty of being able to use Tephra mods on the 7 ECU. The guys on geekmapped are making great strides with the 5 ECU and it currently supports 1 or 2 of those Tephra-like features.

Yep they definately are with the e5 ecu. i would definately recommend getting an e7 ecu man. i was reading up on the tephramod v7 for the e7 and trust me there is a whole host of new stuff added. Can't wait to flash the v7 ROM and retune. The fuel and timing maps are huge giving you better control of fine tuning your map. Take a look at the below link and check out option 4. Thats what i will be switching to when going to version 7 of tephramod.
